About me

Hey again! My name is Mado, I’m a Canadian product designer and user experience researcher with 5 years of practice to my name. I got my start working with user data in 2018, working alongside a software nonprofit through the lens of strategy design. From there, my skillset in the field snowballed, and I have the numbers to show for it -

Industries

I’ve since earned my master’s degree at the University of Toronto, studying UX Design & Human Centered Data Science. The intersection of these two disciplines helped me ground my toolkit in both qualitative & quantitative methods, while giving me an outlet to explore the ethical landscape of digital design. You can see some of the artefacts associated with my research in my Project Playground.

Much of my professional experience came concurrently with my education, where I held both full time and part time UX positions across 4 industries. My two most recent ventures include the co-founding & product leadership of a Medtech startup, Quip Medical, and working as a lead UX/UI designer at a Concrete AI & IoT scale-up, Giatec.

The ethos of what I do is that accessible and value sensitive design should always take center stage. We, as leaders and creators, need to take the time to understand the people most impacted by our work, and let their voices reflect in the technologies we design. I try to embody this as best I can through the projects I work on by prioritizing accessibility, learning from experts, and always putting the user first.

Through and through, I’m passionate about taking on impactful work that can create real social change.
